The Dumbbell Nebula (also known as M27 or NGC 6583) is a planetary nebula in the Vulpecula constellation, at a distance of 1250 light years.
This nebula was the first planetary nebula discovered, described by Charles Messier in 1764. With an apparent magnitude of 7.4 and a diameter of 8 arc minutes, it is easy to see with binoculars.
The Dumbbell Nebula has an estimated age of 3,000 to 4,000 years.
To reveal this image I have used data from Ha, OIII and RGB, resulting in an image more faithful to the real colors of the stars.
