NGC 281 - The Pac-Man Nebula - HaLRGB
NGC 281 also known as the "Pac-Man" nebula.
It is a star birth zone, where the light from young stars ionizes the surrounding gas, making it glow. It has dense columns of gas, dark areas of gas and dust where new stars can form. These formations are known as Bok globules, visible in the central part of this beautiful nebula.
It is located about 10,000 light years from Earth.
