NGC 1999 and its Surroundings
The lights in this field have spent a lot of time stored on my computer until I decided to process them, I've finally finished it.
Now we go with a little information about this nebula that is near M42, although the image covers a larger field NGC 1999 is the small whitish nebula that is wrapped in dust and gas in the upper right part In the image, the brightest star that gives NGC 1999 its pearly appearance is V380 Orionis, a young star 3.5 times the mass of our Sun. It appears white due to its high surface temperature of about 10,000ºC, almost twice that of the Sun. The star is so young that it is still surrounded by a cloud of material left over from its formation. This glowing material in the area shown here is only visible due to light from the star; so we find ourselves before a 'reflection nebula'.
Astronomers believe it was formed when gas jets from some of the young stars in the wider region pierced the shell of dust and gas that forms the surrounding nebula. Powerful radiation from a nearby mature star may also have helped clear the hole.
