M106 and Surroundings
M 106 is a spiral galaxy in the constellation Canes Venatici. It was discovered by Pierre Méchain in 1781. The size of this galaxy is comparable to that of M31. As a result of observations by the Chandra Space Telescope, it was detected that the black hole in the center of M106 is active. NGC 4217 (To the right of M106) is an edge-on spiral galaxy located approximately 60 million light years away.
But don't lose sight of the background, there are more galaxies belonging to the New General Catalog (NGC) and at least 10 more galaxies, belonging to the Main Galaxies Catalog (PGC), without a doubt a gift for our imagination.
