NGC 4725 and Company - Trio of Galaxies in Coma Berenices - AAPOD 27-05-2022
NGC 4725 is a medium-sized galaxy located in the Coma Berenices constellation. This galaxy is not as well known as others but with a magnitude of class 10 it is worth visiting, it is curious to see that it only has one spiral arm, which also gives the sensation that it squeezes the nucleus of NGC 4725.
NGC4747 is a quite peculiar galaxy, in this image we can see it in the upper right part, the shape reminds me of a bird flying over the beautiful island NGC 4725. This galaxy shows symptoms of having had some type of gravitational interaction, that is what the wings look like of a bird could be tidal currents, due to this it is considered that NGC 4747 is one of the companion galaxies of NGC 4725, the gravitational interaction between the two and has distorted the spiral structure NGC 4747.
For the end we leave the most distant, far exceeding the 40 million light years that separate us from NGC 4725, NGC 4712 is the small spiral galaxy that is just below NGC 4725 and separates it from the Milky Way approximately 200 million of light years, it cannot be said that it is in the neighborhood.
